Rotary - Your weekly Rotary minute - 20090805
Tomorrow is our first meeting of the month of August. This also means Summer is almost over. In two shakes it will be labor day and back to school. Where did the time go?
So Rotary business. Last week we had our own Melinda Middlebrooks speak to us on the benefits of bankruptcy. Her talk was very informative and gave us new perspectives on how bankruptcy can be almost thought of as a 'positive thing'. It certainly serves the purpose of helping ordinary people who have lost control over their finances through no fault of their own, the ability to 'reset' their lives and start over. Thank you Melinda.
CLUB ASSEMBLY
This week (August 6th) will be our first club assembly of this new session. We will have the opportunity to share ideas and have meaningful discussion on topics that affect our club now and in the future. This will be the first of many such sessions over the coming year. I would like every one to come prepared to really do some brainstorming and really giving us good ideas to make Union Rotary a force in district 7510.
WE'RE IN THE PAPERS
We had our first article published in a very long time. Thanks to the effort of Rudy Nicholas our new PR chair, we were able to get a press release published in the Suburban news. The article was covered our donation to the fire department's mobile firehouse. We were
also published in the latest edition of Team Rotary the district's newsletter. Thank you Rudy.
ANNUAL REGATTA
Its Finally Here!! Friday is Regatta day! If you haven't snagged a ride on a boat, grab one now or get left at the pier.
Friday, August 7th at Pelican Cove (Seaside Hts).
I checked the weather, everything looks fine for Friday.
Lets make Regatta 2009 a super special event and gather even better footage for the follow up annual viewing of the Regatta, for those who could not make it.
So if you have a boat, join in. If you don't have a boat, jump aboard someone else's.
Charlie Minton, Herb Singe, Manny Rey, Steve Hehl and me are regular boaters.
